Recent years has seen the DAZN Group become a major player in coverage of boxing. They then expanded into showing other sports such as women’s football. Now they have announced a partnership with Pragmatic Group to create DAZN BET.
It’s a move into sports betting for the company that will see customers being able to watch top sport and place bets on the action too.
This will see DAZN BET offering the “first truly immersive sports entertainment ecosystem.” Anyone joining the site will have a busy time for sure. They won’t just be able to watch sport and bet on it but also see non-live content, the latest news, sporting highlights and socialise with other site members.
DAZN say that they have chosen to partner with the Pragmatic Group because of their “innovative and entrepreneurial spirit.” Their business headquarters will be situated in Gibraltar. Pragmatic will supply the underlying platform. They will also be responsible for the ongoing development of the product.
The DAZN sports site already has a healthy customer base. They regularly show top boxing action from around the globe. This includes many shows promoted by Eddie Hearn and that includes last weekend’s Conor Benn bout.
There are also chat shows and the chance to see boxing matches from the past. Women’s Champions League football has also been introduced with matches being shown live on their site
They have seen the growth of in-play betting on sport that has taken place in recent years. Shay Segev is the CEO of the DAZN Group and he says that “the convergence of sports media and betting is the future.”
The aim of this partnership with the Pragmatic Group is to “revitalise the sports viewing experience by offering a broader spectrum of digital entertainment for fans.”
Ashley Lang (CEO of Pragmatic Solutions) said of the new site: “We know that fans want more integrated, immersive, and interactive experiences, and through our exclusive partnership with DAZN, we can deliver this”.
It’s likely that DAZN BET will have a soft launch of a beta product later this year. The start of the new football season in August is the most likely date. The coming months would be important with the World Cup taking place in November and December.
Also announced by DAZN has been coverage of LaLiga football. They have a non-exclusive distribution deal with Movistar Plus+ who are the top Spanish entertainment platform. The deal sees them having exclusive broadcasting rights for a total of 175 La Liga games for the period 2022/23 to 2026/27. Those who don’t have Movistar Plus+ will be able to watch clubs such as Real Madrid and Barcelona on the DAZN app.
