Nearly a whole month of World Cup football begins on Sunday November 20. Entain believes it will be a bumper time for sportsbooks with a “record number” of new customers and first-time deposits.
The gambling company owns brands such as Ladbrokes, Coral and Bwin. They are expecting plenty of new customers to be signing-up with their sites so they can bet on the most important football tournament in the world.
There will be plenty of promotions during the World Cup, all doing their best to entice new customers to their sites. Not just those owned by Entain, this week has already seen Vbet launch a new welcome offer.
Ladbrokes have already launched a Half Time Quiz promotion that is free to play for site members. This is considered a key component for the site in terms of customer acquisition and retention.
Eager to make the most of this tournament, a microsite has been launched by Entain in several countries who are in the World Cup finals. Portugal, Brazil, Canada, US, Australia and Belgium have all been targeted. The microsites will aim to be a ‘premium betting-related content’ destination. Content will include betting tips, the latest news and match previews.

Dominic Grounsell is the Chief Commercial Officer at Entain. Speaking about the upcoming tournament, he said: “With just days to go until the World Cup kicks off, it’s great to see the passion and emotion that football generates around the globe.”
Their global coverage has included a Virtual World Cup on their Eurobet brand in Italy, both online and at retail outfits. It must be a bit frustrating for the Italians though, who despite being European champions didn’t qualify for the World Cup finals.
Mr Grounsell added that Entain has “a unique view and ability to provide our customers around the world with exciting experiences, innovative content and a whole host of new products aimed at bringing the tournament even more to life. “We’re looking forward to the excitement that a World Cup brings for our customers.”
That will be evident in the US where Entain have been opening sportsbooks in recent years. The American gambling industry has seen great expansion since the last World Cup was held.
Over 30 US states have made sports betting legal, particularly online. They’ll be eager to be placing bets during the 2022 World Cup,especially with both the US and Canada having qualified for the finals.
