Massive Lottery Jackpots on the Line

Just how many millions will be won in lottery draws around the world in the next week? It’s already a massive figure thanks to a $426m Mega Millions win on Friday January 28. By the time we get to next weekend, there could be another quarter of a million euros won in the SuperEnalotto and EuroMillions draws.

Friday saw a ticket sold in California make its owner(s) rich beyond belief. It won the $426m top prize in the Mega Millions draw. The ticket managed to successfully match 03-16-25-44-55 and the Mega Ball 13 (definitely lucky on this occasion).

No one has yet come forward to claim their fantastic win. All we know is that the winning ticket was purchased from a Chevron Gas station in the Woodland Hills area of Los Angeles. Whoever has won the Mega Millions jackpot can receive it as an annuity paid over 29 years or a taxable one-off payment of $293m.

Huge Mega Millions jackpot

It was due to be a $421m jackpot but additional sales boosted that amount. The Mega Millions jackpot had last been won in the October 22, 2021, draw. On that occasion, a family in Arizona won a $108m top prize. The next draw is on Tuesday February 1 with a $20m jackpot.

The same evening, there’s a SuperEnalotto draw being held in Italy. Now this is one of the hardest lotteries to win and on Tuesday, the jackpot is €148.9m. Why is it difficult to win the jackpot? Well, there are 90 main balls in this draw. That makes the odds of winning the top prize 1 in 622,614,630, that’s compared to 1 in 139,838,160 in the EuroMillions draw.

Last year saw the SuperEnalotto jackpot won just once. That was a €156m win in May and since then it’s been rollover after rollover in each of the three draws held each week. The record SuperEnalotto win is €209m and that was won in 2019 after over a year of draws without a win. Perhaps February will begin with a jackpot win?

There are Powerball draws on both Monday and Wednesday. Monday’s draw has a $104m jackpot just waiting to be won.

There are not many certainties when it comes to lottery draws. However, we do know that on Friday February 4, the EuroMillions jackpot will be €130m. That’s because it’s a EuroMillions Superdraw with a guaranteed enhanced jackpot. The last three EuroMillions jackpots have all been won by tickets sold in France. Will Friday see them get another big win to end an amazing lottery week?
