Just Who Will Newcastle Sign in January?

January has finally arrived, and the transfer window is open. That could mean not just a new year for Newcastle United but a new-look team too. Just who could Newcastle buy with all the millions they now possess?

It’s been a long wait for the new owners to be able to spend some cash on their new purchase. On the field, it’s been a bit of a struggle with just one league win and the club still in the bottom three. They put in an improved performance to get a 1-1 home draw with Manchester United, but that game also saw striker Callum Wilson injured.

With Allan Saint-Maxim also being injured in that game, Newcastle must have been pleased to see their Premier League games at Everton and Southampton postponed. United have only scored 19 league goals this season, 10 of them being scored by Saint-Maxim and Wilson, so reinforcements are needed.

One player who could be on his way to Newcastle is Anthony Martial. He’s on his way out of Old Trafford and is 15/8 at SkyBet to join Newcastle. Sevilla are also interested though (2/1 to sign him) so it could be a battle to sign him.

Gareth Bale was on loan at Tottenham last season and did well at times. He’s again being frozen out at Real Madrid and a return to the Premier League is possible. SkyBet have Newcastle as the 5/1 favourites to sign him.

Unlikely Move to Newcastle United

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is not in the good books at Arsenal. He could well be on the move in January and is a proven goalscorer. A move to Newcastle looks unlikely though and is 18/1 at SkyBet with Juventus 6/1 favourites to sign him.

Talking of Juventus, Aaron Ramsey is possibly on his way out of the Italian club. Newcastle are the favourites at 13/8 to get their hands on him. United are also favourites to sign Adam Traore (4/1) and Dele Alli (7/2), though the latter seems a bit more in favour at Tottenham under new boss Conte.

Defensively, Newcastle have conceded 42 league goals, so need a bit of help at the back. Keiron Trippier has their attention and he could be on his way back to the English Premier League. Stefan de Vrij of Inter is also a possible signing. The Dutchman is 6/1 to sign for Newcastle, though Tottenham are 3/1 at SkyBet to sign him in January.

The month is going to be full of rumours on who will sign for Newcastle. It’s a difficult time to sign players with major teams still chasing domestic and European honours. There’s also the fact that clubs know Newcastle are now wealthy and will add a few million onto transfer fees.

Whatever happens, it’s an exciting time for Newcastle but their main aim now is to be a Premier League side next season, then the fun and games can really begin.
