It looks as if April is going to be an exciting time to play European lotteries. There have been recent changes made to the EuroJackpot lottery and on April 29, there will be a €130 million EuroMillions Superdraw.
This year marks the tenth anniversary of the EuroJackpot draw that is played by 18 European countries. Last week saw the introduction of a second weekly draw. In addition to the usual Friday draws, there is now one held every Tuesday.
It’s hoped that this will lead to more jackpot wins. Higher ones are possible too with the jackpot cap being raised from €90 million to €120 million. To win the top prize, players have to match the five main numbers drawn and two EuroNumbers.
There have been two more EuroNumbers added making the odds of winning the jackpot now 1 in 139,838,160. Previously the odds were 1 in 95,344,200. Another change sees the value of the other prize tiers being increased. It’s now 1 in 32 that a ticket wins some prize in a EuroJackpot draw. The next draw is on Friday April 1 with a €22 million jackpot.
April 29 will see the second EuroMillions Superdraw of the year being held. That draw will see an enhanced jackpot of €130 million (around £109 million)
It’s already been a good year to play the EuroMillions draw. There have been six jackpot wins with two wins by tickets sold in France and the others in the UK, Ireland, Spain, and Portugal. The biggest win of the year has been the £109 million won by a UK ticket in the first EuroMillions Superdraw of the year held on February 4.
France have had a great deal of success in the past year or so. They sold six winning jackpot tickets in 2021 and those two this year. That has taken them clear at the top of the list of countries with most jackpot wins. They’ve had 118 which is now three clear of the UK. Those wins include a record €220 million jackpot won last October.
If the April Superdraw jackpot isn’t won, then it could keep rolling over to a new record total of €230 million which is the new jackpot cap.
This is only the second EuroMillions Superdraw to be held in April. The other was four years ago but didn’t produce a €130 million jackpot win. The top prize was won in the next draw with a UK ticket holder winning £121 million.
The next EuroMillions draw is being held on Friday April 1. You’d be a fool not to buy a ticket and try to win the £45 million jackpot.
