Tottenham v Manchester City , plus Premier League Game West Ham v Chelsea

Two vital games take place this weekend. West Ham host Chelsea in the Premier League with both sides hoping for a top four finish. Meanwhile, Manchester City are back at Wembley again. This time it’s the Carabao Cup final against Tottenham. Let’s look at both games with some betting tips and odds.

Saturday 24 April: Premier League – West Ham v Chelsea (5.30pm KO)

Can West Ham qualify for the Champions League? Not a question that gets asked a great deal to be fair. They start the weekend in fifth place, only behind Chelsea in fourth on goal difference. A win for Liverpool over Newcastle earlier on Saturday will see them go into fourth, a point ahead of the two clubs in this match.

If this game produces a positive result, the winners will go into fourth with five games remaining, so high stakes indeed. West Ham lost at Newcastle last weekend, but that defeat didn’t cause too much damage. They sat back and watched both Chelsea and Liverpool draw their games, so they are still in a decent position.

Their run-in isn’t too bad once this game is out of the way. There’s Everton at home and the other fixtures are against sides in the bottom seven. Home form has been good of late with four of the last five league games won. Only a fightback from 3-0 down by Arsenal prevented that being five successive wins. Goals look on the way in this game, the last four West Ham games have produced 21 goals, the last three all ending 3-2.

Chelsea should have beaten Brighton at home on Wednesday. They have a busy end to the season but failing to finish in the top four would be a major setback both on and off the pitch. Only one of their last 13 Premier League games has been lost, though five have been drawn. Avoiding defeat here would hurt West Ham more than it would Chelsea.

A win would be greatly appreciated though as they still have Manchester City, Arsenal and Leicester City to play. A draw with both teams scoring has odds of 7/2 at Paddy Power.

Sunday 25 April: Carabao Cup Final – Tottenham v Manchester City (4.30pm KO)

Not since 1984 has a club completed a four-timer in the League Cup. That was achieved by Liverpool but on Sunday (April 25th), Manchester City can match that feat. They take on Tottenham at Wembley, looking to win the first leg of what is now a treble.

City have had great success in this competition since all that money started to flow into the club. Not so in the FA Cup but there is a reason for that. One loss and you’re out in the FA Cup but with a two-legged semi-final in the League Cup, you can afford to be beaten. City did that against both Everton and Manchester United and went on to win the cup.
They came from behind to win at Aston Villa in midweek and now look to win this competition again. Facing them are a Tottenham side who also won their last game. They also sacked their manager too, so it’s been a bit of a week.

One major problem could be solved by Tottenham this weekend. Win the cup and they will have European football to look forward to next season. Mind you, many fans may be asking the question, ‘what is the UEFA Europa Conference League?’

Tottenham may be without Harry Kane for this game. He didn’t train on Friday so it’s touch and go. City hope to have Sergio Aguero and Kevin du Bruyne fit for Sunday. They have the stronger squad and can win this game in 90 minutes. You can get odds of 1/2 at 888sport on City winning in 90 minutes.
